The Ultimate Guide To Camping At Cultus Lake Provincial Park

Last updated on April 23rd, 2024 at 10:53 pm

When it comes to popular campgrounds, I can see why people love Cultus Lake Provincial Park. We were looking for a spot to spend a Saturday night as we traveled through BC and we lucked upon a spot at Cultus Lake campground. It didn’t disappoint!

We only spent one night at Cultus Lake campground but I wish we had spent longer. The huge old growth trees and stream running through the Entrance Bay campground gave you a feeling of being really remote and in a warm rainforest.

Cultus Lake Provincial Park

The Cultus Lake Provincial Park is a long park which runs along the shore of Cultus Lake, it is home to four campgrounds. Entrance Bay, Clear Creek, Delta Grove and Maple Bay. For those looking for a more luxury camping experience, there are also cabins to rent at Maple Bay through BC Parks.

There are 290 reservable camping spots in total throughout the Cultus Lake Provincial Park and in 2024 it will cost $35 per night for vehicle accessible camping.

Along with camping there are two large day use areas near Entrance Bay and Maple Bay. These are perfect for day trippers who want to have a picnic and make use of the lake on a warm day.

Where Is The Cultus Lake Provincial Park

The Cultus Lake campground is approximately an hour and a half from Vancouver and 20 minutes south of Chilliwack via Vedder Road and Columbia Valley Highway. The Cultus Lake Provincial Park is clearly signposted the whole way.

As you enter the park there is a kiosk to check in with the parks staff before heading to your campsite.

How To Book A Campsite At Cultus Lake Provincial Park

It is fairly easy to book a campsite at Cultus Lake Provincial Park, the easiest way is to book online on the BC Parks Camping website. You are able to book up to four months in advance. The earlier you book, the more likely you are to get a better choice of sites.

You can also call the BC Parks reservation line 1-800-689-9025, note there is a $5 fee for reserving over the phone.

The Entrance Bay Campground

We stayed at Entrance Bay campground, right inside of the entrance to the provincial park. It was a perfect location, close to amenities and the lake.

The Cultus Lake Campground is a busy and popular place, we managed to reserve a spot the night before we stayed but there were only a few spots available. If you are set on staying at Cultus Lake I’d book early using the online reservation system to avoid any disappointment.

We booked a quiet site at the very top of the campground. Surrounded by huge green trees with a creek running along behind the site. It was fairly private with neighbors only on one side and they didn’t show up anyways!

The campsite itself had a big, well maintained picnic bench and a fire ring and was more than big enough for our tiny three man tent.

A short walk down through the campground took you to a trail which cut across the road and popped out at the day use parking area, right on the lake. A five minute walk, at most.

The campground has two outhouse buildings with running water, both have toilets and a shower in each. The shower was more than disappointing so if you are camping here and need one, I’d keep looking! But the bathrooms were clean and there were also drop toilets around the campground to use if you wanted too.

Things To Do Near Cultus Lake Provincial Park

There are activities for all the family on and around Cultus Lake. There is hiking straight from the Entrance Bay campground, taking you to some old Douglus Fir trees. There are five main trails in the Cultus Lake Provincial Park for hiking.

Then there is the lake itself, home to designated swimming areas as well as a boat launch for motorized boats, there were lots of people out of the lake on sea doos, or larger boats, people were also wakeboarding.

It is also possible to canoe, kayak and stand up paddleboard on Cultus Lake. There are also plenty of fishing opportunities from your boat or some of the docks, just make sure you have a BC fishing license.

Just before entering the Cultus Lake Provincial Park there are restaurants, golf courses, a Waterpark and theme park. This place has something for absolutely anybody!

    1. Such a gorgeous spot and they really do seem to maintain the sites wonderfully. Running water at a campground is also always a bonus. Hope you have a wonderful trip!
