Mount Kidd RV Park makes a perfect base for exploring in Kananaskis. It’s our campground of choice in the area, particularly when the weather forecast doesn’t look too good. If you like some extra home comforts the Mt Kidd RV Park offers a lot of creature comforts from flushing toilets to a games room and ice cream bar. Add onto this it’s excellent location right off of Highway 40, with close access to lots of hiking trails and the Mount Kidd RV Park really does have something for everyone.
The Mount Kidd RV Park
For those who enjoy small, peaceful sites, this may not be a spot for you, with 229 sites here across 6 loops. That being said the majority of the Mount Kidd RV Park caters to exactly that, people with RVs! Three loops offer full power and water, 2 loops offer just power and one, Loop F, offers no services. We are always camping in our tent with no need for services and have found this site is often overlooked by tenters and often, mid week in the middle of summer we find ourselves to be camping almost completely alone in the F loop.
Due to the excellent amenities it makes an excellent option for shoulder season camping with the campers center offering pay per use showers, inside washrooms as well as games rooms and pool tables. We camped here in early May and even though it snowed, we still had a great time! There is also a small shop on site for anything small you may forget or for snacks!
Outside has a number of activities for those blessed with better weather during their trip, including tennis and volleyball courts as well as a wading pool and children play park. There is also an extensive trail which includes an interpretive trail section which winds around the edge of the Mount Kidd RV Park and alongside the Kananaskis River.
The sites are all fairly large, mostly well treed offering privacy from your neighbors. They all have a picnic bench and fire ring as well. You can book online really easily here or grab a site and pay at the campers center when you arrive!
Where Is The Mount Kidd RV Park
One of the best things I love about the Mount Kidd RV Park is its location, its just a 20 minute, scenic drive south on Highway 40 from Highway. Making it an ideal spot for a short break from Calgary. We even like to enjoy an extra night and head home for work since it’s only an hour drive from the campground to Banff!
Follow signs for Highway 40 and Kananaskis from Highway 1, the junction is shared with the casino. Head south on Highway 40 towards Kananaskis Village and Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. just after the village and the golf course there is a clear, large sign for the Mount Kidd RV Park on the right hand side.
